ROPAR
WORKSHOP: A three-day workshop on control, instrumentation and training concluded on Thursday at the super thermal plant here. During the workshop VGB experts and engineer from Germany dealt on online condition monitoring, diagnosis and optimisation of power plant operation, control and instrumentation to raise efficiency. The team included Dr R. Singh Dev, chief co-ordinator, VGB, Jorg Kaiser, Wolfgang Becker, Gerhard Brandt, Franz Richard Piwinger and Rolf Schwanecke.

VILLAGERS WARNED: The district administration here on Thursday warned villagers against giving loans to people of Punjabi origin in Philippines as it is illegal. It has come to the notice of the state government that Punjabis, especially from rural areas and settled in Philippines, have been working as money lenders there, said the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Alok Sekhar. He said many of these Punjabis were part of a mafia involved in many illegal activities there.
