5 dead, 60 hurt in blast at NC rally in Kashmir
Srinagar, July 8
Five persons, including a former legislator, were killed and 60 others were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade on a National Conference rally in the Kulgam area of Anantnag district today.

AIIMS Director P. Venugopal resumed work a day after his controversial removal was stayed by the Delhi High Court till August 17. The legendary heart surgeon known for his self forgetful services to patients earned a rousing reception from patients besides admirers and sympathisers.

Germany thrash portugal, finish third

Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger scored two goals and forced the other as World Cup hosts Germany beat Portugal 3-1 to claim third place today. Schweinsteiger fired home his first goal of the competition from long range in the 56th minute to put Germany ahead.

23 pilgrims killed in bus accident
Dehra Dun, July 8
At least 23 persons, including four women and two children, were killed in a bus accident at Dharasu, in Uttarkashi district of Uttaranchal today. The bus enroute to Uttarkashi from Dehra Dun, fell into gorge at 2 pm, due to steering failure, at Dharasu, killing 22 passengers, official sources said.

New Haryana HC not in Chandigarh, says Bhardwaj

In what could be a major setback to the efforts of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress Government in Haryana to have a separate High Court for Haryana in Chandigarh itself, the Union Law Minister, Mr Hans Raj Bhardwaj, today ruled out any such plan.
