Lucknow, June 25
Uttar Pradesh Governor T.V. Rajeswar dashing off to New Delhi has given rise to speculations of President A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam intervening to stave off an impeding clash between the Raj Bhawan and the Allahabad High Court.
In an unprecedented move, the High Court on Friday constituted a full Bench in the middle of the summer vacation while declaring the Governor's orders unnecessary over the transfer and suspension of additional legal advisor P.K. Dubey.
A senior member of the legal fraternity on condition of anonymity termed the decision as an 'overreaction on part of the High Court'. According to him, it need not have been made a prestige issue and could have been sorted out amicably between the Governor and the Chief Justice over a cup of tea.
According to Raj Bhawan sources, Governor Rajeswar is very particular about appointments in the secretariat. On two earlier occasions, he had insisted for a panel of names before selecting the officer he wanted. Both Principal Secretary Luv Verma and Special Secretary Hari Sharan Prakash came through this process.
Understandably, Mr Rajeswar did not relieve his the law officer P.K. Dubey when the orders came from the High Court.
