Hyderabad, June 10
Andhra Pradesh has followed in the foot steps of Maharashtra in providing modest relief to the common man on fuel prices.

The Chief Minister, Mr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today announced that the government had decided to reduce sales tax on fuel prices, resulting in a reduction of 40 paise on a litre of petrol and 22 paise on diesel.

The government will have to bear a loss of Rs 130 crore per annum because of this decision. But we went ahead in view of the Centre's advice to provide relief to the consumers, Mr Reddy told reporters.
