Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Haryana, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at many places in west Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: Haryana: Ambala 3, Hisar, Nilokheri and Thanesar 2 each and Karnal 1, Himachal Pradesh: Una 3, Solan 2 and Dharampur and Nahan 1 each; Punjab: Talwandi Bhai 3 and Nangal 1; East Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur and Varanasi AP 1 each; and Uttaranchal: Tehri 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures fell in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were below normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 43.6°C recorded at Jhalawar (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 22: Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Isolated dust storm/thunderstorm is likely in Rajasthan. Isolated thunder squalls are likely in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 22: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of dust storm/thunderstorm accompanied with squall towards evening/night in some areas. The maximum temperature will be around 38°C.

Outlook for the subsquent two days: No large change.
