New Delhi, April 15
The Delhi Police has detained two persons (four according to the PTI) in connection with the twin blasts that took place yesterday in the Jama Masjid premises.
The police is questioning them regarding the blasts and is piecing together evidence from the blast site to trace the perpetrators of the attack. "We are interrogating the detained persons regarding the twin blasts that took place in the mosque," said a police official.

The twin blasts that took place yesterday at around 5.30 pm inside the mosque had left 13 persons in critically injured condition.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Commissioner, Mr K.K. Paul met the Union Home Secretary, Mr V.K. Duggal, this morning to apprise him of the situation in the aftermath of the blasts.

The police officials said the security at the Jama Masjid had been tightened and metal detectors were being used at its three gates in view of the blasts.

The mosque security has been beefed up with the Delhi Police and the CRPF personnel being deployed in large numbers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that potassium chloride and sulphuric acid were used to trigger the explosion. Nuts and bolts were added to the mixture to cause injury. "The intention behind the explosions was to create panic in the city," the police said.

The top brass of the Delhi Police today denied the involvement of any terrorist group in the twin blasts that shocked the city.
