Kaithal murder: DSP arrested Kaithal, March 26 Giving this information to mediapersons here late this evening, the SP Mr Navdeep Singh Virk, said the jail official had been arrested under Section 120-B and 302 IPC as he had provided a mobile to Surinder Geong in Karnal jail, who directed his gang members to get Rs 50 lakh extortion money from the deceased and eliminate him if he refused to pay the ransom money. The SP said during interrogation,
The DSP asked Surinder to burn the used mobile phone and sim card lest it may create problems for him and this partly burnt mobile was taken by the DSP for disposal. The press note further stated that Surinder also revealed that he paid Rs 10,000 to the DSP for getting himself transferred to Kurukshetra jail long ago but the Kurukshetra jail authorities sent him back to Karnal following which he paid Rs 10,000 to the DSP who arranged a mobile for him. He (Surinder) also paid Rs 20,000-30,000 to this official on some occasions to win favours. The DSP was being interrogated at the local CIA staff office for more information relating to this case, the press release said. According to the SP, some accused in the case told the police that Surinder Singh, a resident of Manas village, near here, was involved in the murder case as other accused used to stay at his house. He had been booked in four other cases under various sections of the IPC. The police had got some vital clues in the interrogation of Darshan Singh, a local transporter, and Rajesh, he added. The SP said the police arrested three youths, who had allegedly refused to make payment for the petrol filled in their car tank and snatched cash from sales man of the petrol station on the night of March 24 at Jakholi village in this district. The police had recovered the looted cash and a stolen Alto car from them. The accused have been identified as Sunil, a resident of Kapro in Hisar district, Mahabir of Dhuderheri (Kaithal) and Suresh of Nand Karan Majra in Kaithal. Mahabir Singh has been remanded in police custody while the other two have been sent to Judicial custody. Mr Virk said the four accused, who had raped a Dalit married woman on the night of March 24 at a Chaubara, near here, had also been arrested by the police. They had been sent to judicial custody. |
