Aamir claims Rs 21 cr from newspaper

Mumbai, February 26
Actor Aamir Khan has served a legal notice on a prominent city newspaper, its publisher and two others seeking compensation of Rs 21 crore for using his photograph and quote, without his permission, in an advertisement to promote ‘Filmfare Awards’ held yesterday.

Aamir Khan sent the notice through his lawyer Anand Desai on February 22 objecting to the half page advertisement for Filmfare Awards that appeared in the newspaper on February 20 in which the actor’s photograph was used.

The actor also objected to certain words used in the advertisement along with his photograph.

Aamir said in the notice that the photograph and the quote were used without his permission. Neither prior consent was obtained from him to use them nor had he communicated about it to anyone.

The actor said the publication of the photograph and the quote purported to invading his rights and was in violation of law. — PTI
