New Delhi, February 12
A delegation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by its Convener, Mr George Fernandes, will call on the President, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on Tuesday afternoon to press for the resignation of Election Commissioner Navin Chawla.

The NDA has been demanding Mr Chawla’s resignation following news reports that two trusts run in his name and another run by his wife, had allegedly received funds from the MP Local Area Development Scheme.

While former BJP president L.K. Advani had expressed the view that Mr Navin Chawla should gracefully quit, Mr Chawla defended his action saying that he had taken funds from MPLADS for a noble cause.
