Rainfall: Rain, snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Rain, thundershowers have occurred at most places in Punjab, at a few places in Haryana and at isolated places in west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Haryana: Chandigarh 2, Himachal Pradesh: Dhundhi 9, Bhang and Shimla 4 each, Bhuntar, Solangnala and Sunibhaji 3 each, Kahu, Patsio and Rampurbushahar 2 each and Berthin, Kasol, Kasauli, Pandoh and Sundernagar 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 7, Banihal 6 and Jammu, Katra, Kupwara and Quazigund 2 each and West Rajasthan: Sriganganagar 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were largely above normal in Punjab and east Rajasthan, markedly above normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh, appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 6.8° C recorded at Varanasi AP (Uttar Pradesh).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 19: Rain, snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain, thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana and Punjab and at isolated places in north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain, snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 24 hours.
