New Delhi, December 24
Greeting people on the occasion of Christmas, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today exhorted them to bring joy to the life of the downtrodden and follow the ideals of self-sacrifice and compassion for fellow beings.
Referring to the Biblical parable of “Lost Sheep”, Dr Kalam said, “On this festive day, you will see all around you, many houses lit up and carols and joy emanating. But there may be a few homes, which are dark. Christmas tellus to light up these homes with joy and happiness”.
The President extended his greetings to people not only in the country but also abroad.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted the people of the country on the occasion of Christmas and said, “Christmas affords a special opportunity to spread joy, share happiness and the spirit of brotherhood.”
“While commemorating the birth of Jesus
Christ and the spirit of Christmas, there is a need to follow the ideals of self-sacrifice, service, redemption, love and compassion for all fellow beings,” he said in his message.
