Hooda asks CBI to probe charges against Chautala Chandigarh, December 16 According to informed sources, the state government sent a letter to the Centre in this regard yesterday. The letter has been sent by the Home Department The sources say the Hooda Government felt that since some of the matters mentioned in the memorandum were already being inquired into by the CBI, it would be better if the premier investigating agency inquires into the entire contents of the memorandum. The matters which are being inquired into by the CBI include recruitment of JBT teachers and the HCS selections. Most of these cases have been referred to the CBI by the courts. The sources say since the possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income of certain politicians and officials also form part of the recruitment scandals, the CBI can easily look into the memorandum, which was also based on similar allegations against the Chautalas. The government has information that a number of investigating officers have been getting threatening calls from certain influential persons. It is felt that these calls might have made the officers to go slow in their investigations, bringing a bad name to the government. The sources say the government feels that if the CBI indicts anybody after inquiring into the memorandum, the Hooda Government will not be termed as vindictive because the Central agency is an independent body and is beyond the
