Amritsar, December 2
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s (DSGMC) imbroglio today took a new turn with its chief, Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna writing to the Delhi government and the Director Gurdwara Election Board (DGEB) to seek clarification for holding the executive committee election along with general elections of the DSGMC, scheduled to be held in July next year.

Mr Harwinder Singh Sarna, a member of the DSGMC and younger brother of Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna, who returned from Pakistan today claimed that the general secretary of the Gurdwara Committee was not authorised to issue notice for holding election to the executive committee. Chandigarh, December 2
A former President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Mr Avtar Singh Hit, today said that Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna would be removed from the presidentship of the committee on December 19, the day a meeting of the general house of the committee had been convened to elect a new President.

As Mr Sarna had financially wrecked the committee, he had no right to continue as President, said Mr Hit. Come what may, the new President would be elected on the date fixed, he added.

Talking to The Tribune on the phone from Delhi, Mr Hit, who has been a member of the committee for 30 years, said that there was a time when the committee's fixed deposits were to the tune of Rs 15 crore.

But now Mr Sarna was running the show by resorting to overdraft. He said two 75- year-old schools, which were being run by the committee, had been closed because of the mismanagement of Mr Sarna.

He said Mr Sarna had spent lakhs of rupees on the palki procession for his vested political interests. Most of those who accompanied the procession from Delhi were from the constituency of Mr Sarna. " He ignored 35 other members of the committee while organising the palki procession," said Mr Hit. " Being the President of the committee, Mr Sarna should not have behaved in such a partisan manner when the money on the procession had been spent from the funds of the committee," he added.
