14, 886 cases settled at lok adalat

Thousands of people thronged the state-level lok-adalat held here in judicial complex by the Legal Services Authority under the supervision of its chairman, Mr Justice Harbans Lal, District and Sessions Judge, to settle criminal cases. As many as 14, 886 cases were disposed off out of the 16,836.

Punjab schools athletics meet begins

Mandeep Kaur of Amritsar finished ahead of others in the 800 m (u-19) to win the first gold medal of the 51st Punjab State Schools Inter-District Athletics Meet which began at Guru Nanak Stadium here today. Ranbir Kaur of Gurdaspur and Mandeep Kaur of Bathinda secured the second and third position, respectively.
