Sensex crosses 8,600 mark

Mumbai, September 28
The bull run on the Sensex today took the markets to record levels breaching the 8,600 barrier. The Sensex which touched an intra-day high of 8,613 closed at 8,606 — up by 80 points. The Nifty too closed 23 points higher at 2,598. Today’s gainers included ICICI Bank, ONGC, HDFC Bank, Reliance and HDFC though ITC and Tata Motors dampened sentiments by closing lower.
