India, China move closer on border issue
Anil K. Joseph

Beijing, September 28
India and China had a “conscientious exploration” on the framework for settlement of the border problem during the sixth round of the Special Representative-level talks which concluded today.

The two sides had a conscientious exploration on the framework for the settlement of the China-India boundary question in a “friendly, cooperative and constructive” atmosphere, Chinese Foreign Ministry sources were quoted as saying by the official Xinhua news agency.

“Both sides believed that sound momentum of the growth of China-India strategic and cooperative partnership has provided more favourable conditions for the settlement of the boundary question left over by history,” it said on the second phase of the border talks between National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo from September 26 to 28. — PTI
