Chandigarh man is envoy to Iran

Mr Manbir Singh, presently Ambassador of India in Hungary, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Iran in succession to Mr K.C. Singh.

In another ambassadorial appointment announced by the Foreign Office today, Mr Ranjit Rae, presently Joint Secretary at headquarters has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Hungary in succession to Mr Manbir Singh. Both Mr Manbir Singh and Mr Rae are expected to take up their appointment shortly.

The 54-year-old Manbir Singh, born in Amritsar, did his higher education from Chandigarh. Before he went as Indian Ambassador to Hungary, he was on the key post of Chief of Protocol in the Ministry of External Affairs here.
