Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 24
India today once again raised the Sarabjit Singh issue with Pakistan but there was no response yet from Islamabad on the issue of consular access to the Indian national who has been convicted and sentenced to death on charges of espionage.

Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Mr Shiv Shanker Menon, today met Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, Mr Riaz Mohammed Khan, during which he discussed a host of issues, including Indian request for consular access to Sarabjit Singh, the Foreign Office spokesman said in response to a question.

The Sarabjit Singh issue is going to come into sharp focus when Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran visits Pakistan on August 31 for a wrap-up meeting with his Pakistani counterpart of the second round of composite dialogue process.
