Girl gang-raped in Delhi bus
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 11
In yet another incident of gang-rape in the Capital, a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by six men in a parked private bus in south-west Delhi in the wee hours today.

All six accused have been arrested, the police said. The suspects were identified as Sandip, Satyanarayan, Vikas, Rajvir, Sekhar and Narender.

They included the driver and helper of the private blueline bus in which the incident took place.

According to the police, the 16-year-old girl was lured by an acquaintance, Narender, to the bus in the Najafgarh area around 2 am and repeatedly assaulted by him and five of his friends who were in the vehicle.

The police reached the spot after receiving an anonymous call and apprehended the accused.

The girl, a resident of a nearby slum cluster, had been missing from her home for the past few days.

This was the third incident of gang-rape in a vehicle in the past few months.

A Delhi University student was abducted by four men in Dhaula Kuan and assaulted in May, while a resident of Mayapuri was gang-raped last month. Both incidents took place in south-west Delhi.

Meanwhile, a city court today remanded the six accused in police custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar remanded accused Sandip, Satyanarayan, Vikas, Rajvir, Sekhar and Narender in two days’ police custody for further interrogation.

All six were arrested while two of their accomplices, J.P. Kalay and his friend, were at large. The accused are all in their 30s.
