4 from Nangal killed in Hamirpur mishap

Hamirpur, July 17
Four persons were killed and 13 others were injured, two of them seriously, when the vehicle they were travelling dashed against a tree near Nadaun Kaswa of the district early this morning.

The vehicle was on its way from Deotsidh to Jwalamukhi when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it hit the tree, resulting in killing of three persons on the spot. Another woman, Seema, succumbed to injuries in the hospital. They belonged to Nangal in Punjab.

The three others deceased have been identified as Sheetla Devi, her son, Sanjeev, and daughter Niraj Kumari.

Sixteen persons were travelling in the vehicle, according to reports received here.

An official spokesman told PTI that the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody.

Officials reached the spot immediately and took part in relief and rescue operations. They got the injured admitted to the Nadaun hospital.

The spokesman said the Nadaun police had registered a case of negligent driving and further investigations into the accident were on. The bodies of all three deceased have been brought to Hamirpur for post-mortem examinations. — PTI
