Haryana uses twinoxide for purifying water Chandigarh, July 17 This information was given at a meeting of the state Sanitary Board which was presided over by the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, here last evening. An official spokesman said here today that it was also decided to launch a special campaign during the current financial year to ensure the supply of adequate drinking water in Harijan bastis of the state for which Rs 6 crore was earmarked to cover such bastis in 125 villages. All canal-based drinking water schemes would henceforth be completed within three years and those based on tubewells within two years. On the suggestion made by the Public Health Minister, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala, it was decided to set up a revolving fund of Rs 5 crore for the implementation of the Swajal Dhara Scheme which could not be implemented earlier for want of funds. The Chief Minister, who reviewed the status of the Swajal Dhara scheme, pointed out that as some panchayats had deposited funds some time ago for the implementation of the scheme in their villages, it must now be implemented on priority basis. Mr Hooda said instead of taking up a large number of schemes and then making a meagre annual allocation of funds for their implementation, a limited number of schemes should be taken in hand at a given time and adequate funds should be provided so as to complete them within the shortest possible period. Also, he pointed out, a mechanism should be evolved to check the estimates of projects being received from the field offices for the allocation of funds. |
