Army deployed in Vadodara

Vadodara, June 30
With the fear of flood looming large in parts of Gujarat, the Army has been deployed to assist the local administration in Vadodara district today which bore the maximum brunt of monsoon fury while a high alert has been sounded in all vulnerable areas of the state.

One column of the Army has been deployed in Vadodara and Padla town in the same district which were badly affected by rains, sources said. Meanwhile, the rain-related death toll has gone up to 30.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was expected to undertake an aerial survey of the worst-affected areas has not been able to do so owing to bad weather, official sources said. — PTI
