Sensex crosses 7000 mark

Mumbai, June 20
The Ambani brothers’ decision to carve up the Reliance empire after a seven-month battle saw all group companies soaring in today’s trading to take the stock markets to record levels.

The Sensex spurted past the 7,000 mark after opening at higher levels. However, profit booking in a number of mid-cap scrips saw the Sensex close at the 6,984 mark, a record high.

The Nifty also ended steady, up over 20 points to close at 2,144.
