CEET question booklet goes missing; 3 suspended

Three employees have been suspended after a question booklet of Common Engineering Entrance Test (CEET) went missing at an entrance examination centre on the premises of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, soon after the commencement of the test.

This was stated by the Hisar Division Commissioner, Mr R.R. Fuliya, who was also the Acting Vice-Chancellor of CDLU as well as Guru Jambheshwar University (GJU), here today.

Mr Fuliya said he had ordered a probe as soon as the matter came to his knowledge. After the inquiry, Centre Superintendent Dilbagh Singh, Coordinator N.K. Bishnoi and clerk Sanjay Tiwari were suspended. Moreover, three other officials posted at the centre were also chargesheeted.

Meanwhile, the GJU authorities declared the result of the Common MBA Entrance Test within 10 hours of the test. The MBA entrance exam concluded at 5 p.m. yesterday and its result was announced at 3 a.m. this morning.

Mr Fuliya said Ajit Singh Duhhon of Kurukshetra topped the MBA entrance test while Rattan Kumar of Kheri Jalab village under Narnaund subdivision got the second position and Shipra of Hisar stood third.

The Vice-Chancellor said 5,270 candidates had filled the forms for the entrance test, while 5,077 appeared in the test for 11,847 seats. A youth named Sunil was nabbed while he was impersonating Rahul at an examination centre in Rohtak, he added.

He maintained that all arrangements had been made for the conduct of MCA entrance exam to be held on June 26.

Regarding other developments on the GJU campus, Mr Fuliya said Rs 50 lakh would be spent on the renovation of laboratories of various departments of the university for the new academic session.

He said there was a move to establish a computer laboratory and introduce digital system in the GJU library. In response to a question, Mr Fuliya maintained that the process of clearing the promotions and fresh appointments of faculty members and non-teaching employees was also under way.
