HC rejects Anara’s plea for addressing media
Jammu, June 3

A former Miss Jammu, Anara Gupta, whose case pertaining to her alleged involvement in a porno CD is still pending in the high court, today received another setback when the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Sanjeev Gupta, rejected her application for permission to speak to mediapersons. Anara Gupta had in her application, sought permission from the court to speak to mediapersons.

A labourer was killed and two others were injured when a railway tunnel under construction collapsed in Banihal area of Doda district last night, official sources said here today.

3 hurt in grenade attack
Jammu, June 3
Three women were injured when militants lobbed a grenade in Gandoh area of Doda district today, official sources said here.

Vacant posts in govt depts to be filled
Srinagar, June 3
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to fill all vacancies in various departments on contract basis in a phased manner, Finance and Planning Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh said today.

HC rejects Anara’s plea for addressing media

Jammu, June 3
A former Miss Jammu, Anara Gupta, whose case pertaining to her alleged involvement in a porno CD is still pending in the high court, today received another setback when the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Sanjeev Gupta, rejected her application for permission to speak to mediapersons. Anara Gupta had in her application, sought permission from the court to speak to mediapersons.

The crime branch of the police had already filed an application in the high court withdrawing all charges framed against Anara Gupta. The court has kept its judgement reserved. Anara is out on bail on a condition that she would neither move out of Jammu nor speak to the media.

Earlier her application for moving out of Jammu was accepted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate enabling her to visit Delhi. But her plea for speaking to the media was rejected today.

1 killed, 2 hurt in tunnel collapse

Jammu, June 3
A labourer was killed and two others were injured when a railway tunnel under construction collapsed in Banihal area of Doda district last night, official sources said here today.

The tunnel, being constructed by the Hindusatan Construction Company (HCC) for the rail link between Jammu and Kashmir, collapsed at Tathyar.

While labourer Altaf Hussain died on the spot two other labourers were injured, the sources said. — PTI

3 hurt in grenade attack

Jammu, June 3
Three women were injured when militants lobbed a grenade in Gandoh area of Doda district today, official sources said here.

In a bid to target a police post at Bonjwa in Gandoh area of Doda district, militants hurled a grenade. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on a nearby house.

Three women were injured in the explosion. The injured, Shama Devi, Bhawani Devi and Kajal, were later rushed to hospital for treatment. — PTI

Vacant posts in govt depts to be filled

Srinagar, June 3
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to fill all vacancies in various departments on contract basis in a phased manner, Finance and Planning Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh said today.

He said following the lifting of a ban by the Centre on recruitments in the state, it was decided to fill the vacancies.

Speaking after a high-level meeting here today, he said all such appointments would be made in a transparent manner through only designated recruiting agencies.
