HC quashes charges against Hinduja brothers and Swedish firm New Delhi, May 31
In a major relief to Europe-based NRI Hinduja brothers, the Delhi High Court today quashed charges against them in the Rs 64 crore Bofors payoff case, while exonerating the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors as well of the charges of criminal conspiracy and
forgery.

May 31
The Election
Commission today stated that elections to the Bihar
Assembly would be held in October- November only and
ruled out early polls as sought by the NDA. “The Commission will frame a suitable time schedule for the polls in due course taking into account all relevant factors, including religious festivals and the ground realities such as floods….and would endeavour to complete the process by 22
November,” the poll panel said.

Minister Pranab Mukherjee today ordered a probe into the
claims made by Mr Gohar Ayub Khan, former Pakistan
Foreign Minister and son of the late President Ayub
Khan, that an Indian Army Brigadier sold war plans in
1965 to Pakistan for Rs 20,000, Army officials here said
it would not be difficult to identify the officer.

Babbars held for Delhi cinema blasts Nawanshahr/New
Delhi, May 31
The Delhi police
today claimed to have solved the bomb blast case that
took place in two cinema houses here on May 22. Cracking
the nine-day-old case of the twin blasts, the police
today arrested two activists of the Babbar Khalsa
militant outfit allegedly responsible for the crime and
claimed to have seized 1 kg RDX, Rs 2.94 lakh cash and 2
kg of gold from one of them.
