BJP wants free hand for security forces in J&K
Tribune News Service

Jammu. May 25
The BJP has demanded a free hand for the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to tackle the cult of gun.

In a statement here today, the state BJP chief, Dr Nirmal Singh, said that giving a free hand to the security forces had become necessary in view of a spurt in the incidents of terrorism. A reign of terror has been let loose by the Pakistan sponsored terrorists who were targeting members of the Hindu minority in Poonch, Rajouri and Doda districts.

He said that the people had started migrating to safer places.

Dr Nirmal Singh said that the terrorists were uprooting Hindus from their homes from Tiriathand Lower Matta where they had established their hegemony.

He blamed the Congress-supported PDP coalition government for the deteriorating law and order situation and said it was the so-called healing touch policy of the Mufti government and the Congress-led UPA’s soft attitude towards Pakistan which were responsible for escalation in secessionist and communal violence in the state.

The BJP chief appreciated the governor, Lieut-Gen S.K. Sinha (retd), for his bold decision to return the “anti-democracy” Panchayati Raj Bill to the government for reconsideration.

He described the Governor’s decision as a “right step” which should be construed as a slap on the face of the coalition partners who had planned to unconstitutionally dismiss the elected panchyats and capture these institutions through foul means.
