Petition on Subrata’s absence dismissed
Tribune News Service

Lucknow, May 13
A habeas corpus petition filed in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on behalf of Mr Subrato Roy, head of Sahara India Pariwar, by a “well-wisher” was dismissed yesterday.

Expressing his displeasure against the petition, Justice O.P. Srivastava, however, refrained from ordering the petitioner to bear the cost. The writ petition filed on Monday by Mr B.N. Shukla on behalf of Mr Roy as his “next friend and well-wisher”.

In the petition, he had charged Mr Roy’s wife Ms Swapna Roy and four others, including his brother and deputy managing worker, of having illegally detained Mr Roy to capture the business of Sahara Pariwar.

Mr Roy’s counsel Arun Sinha produced a letter written by Mr Roy requesting dismissal of the petition.
