Marriage party attacked, 2 girls killed Jammu, May 5 Reports reaching here said terrorists tossed a grenade at the marriage party late at night, killing the two girls on the spot. The girls have been identified as Soni (15) and Neelam (16). Fourteen of the injured were flown here today in an IAF helicopter to the medical college. The condition of three of them was stated to be serious as they had splinter wounds on their head. The party was attacked at Mata, 15 km from the subdivision headquarters of Reasi, but the police took about four hours to reach the place with reinforcements. This provided ample time to the militants to escape. SRINAGAR: At least seven persons including three militants and a security force jawan, were killed and six others injured in incidents of violence in the Kashmir valley since yesterday. The search of debris at the site of encounter at Lawaypora, Bandipore in Baramula district, was concluded today with the recovery of four AK rifles, 10 magazines, 112 rounds, two UBGLs, a pistol and a wireless set. Six bodies were also recovered from the debris of the six structures gutted in yesterdays exchange of fire. Of the six bodies, two mutilated beyond recognition were buried in a nearby area while the other two have been identified. The police said one of them was a resident of Pattan area in Baramula district while another belonged to Budgam district near here. The bodies were handed over to their relatives. Two militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Poshwani, Zainpora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, today. Militants shot dead former militant of the JKLF Mohammad Shafi Mir and injured his brother Bashir Ahmad Mir at their house at Pampore in Pulwama district last evening. A car owner was also injured when the militants fired upon him while trying to snatch his car, the police said here. A Pak militant identified as Abdul Wahid and a security forces jawan were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district today. One AK rifle, three magazines, a wireless set and 57 rounds were recovered from the site of the encounter. |
