Military aid in doldrums as Nepal arrests Deuba
New Delhi, April 27
By arresting former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Nepal's King Gyanendra has put into reverse gear his nearly three-month-old demand: that India resumes its military supplies to Nepal, suspended since the February 1 royal coup.

Sainik Welfare Officer caught accepting bribe
Bathinda, April 27
All-India Anti-Terrorist Front chief Maninderjit Singh Bitta along with a private TV channel carried out a sting operation and caught the local District Sainik Welfare Officer red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. Amritsar-Howrah Mail derails
Ludhiana, April 27
Hundreds of passengers aboard the Amritsar-Howrah Mail had a providential escape when one of its bogeys got derailed near Giaspura late tonight after a bull was crushed under the train and got stuck up. DSP R. K. Bakhshi said the track had been cleared and there were no injuries.

May is holiday, travel time for legislators

Come May and top political leaders of Punjab will be out, travelling. The Deputy Chief Minister, Mrs Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, was the first one to embark on a trip overseas in the new financial year. She left for North America even before the Budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha concluded early this month.
