Dehra Dun, March 13
Nineteen persons were killed and many injured in a bus accident near Dhanolti ahead of Mussoorie today.
The accident took place when the bus carrying about 30 passengers fell into a 1500-foot deep gorge late in the afternoon, officials said.
Locals were the first to reach the site and begin rescue operations followed by the ITBP, the PAC and the police.
The bus was on its way from Mussoorie to Tehri when the accident took place about 10 km ahead of the hill station, officials said. A magisterial inquiry into the matter has been ordered. District officials of Dehra Dun reached the site to supervise the rescue operations.
Chief Minister N.D. Tiwari has announced Rs 50,000 each to the families of the dead and Rs 20,000 each to the seriously
injured.
