Chandigarh, March 6
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr.Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said here today that the canal water would be equitably distributed among all areas of the state.

Addressing his first press conference after becoming the Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr Hooda said the government would work for all comunities.

The unequal distribution of canal water has been a sensitive and emotive issue in southern Haryana. Politicians of the area have been alleging that Hisar, Sirsa and part of Jind districts were getting more than their due share in the canal water.

Mr Hooda said that he would try to gain from the experiences of senior Congress leaders for rebuilding Haryana. While paying rich tributes to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, Mr Hooda, who belongs to the family of staunch Arya Samjists, said he had the privilege to assume the office of Chief Minister on the occasion of 181st birth anniversary of the maharishi.

He said he would restore the credibility of the Haryana Public Service Commission and the Haryana Staff Selection Commission.

His government would make efforts for the early completion of the SYL canal once the Supreme Court gave its verdict on the Presidential reference on the controversial Punjab Termination of Agreements Act, which negated all inter-state river water agreements.

He said unemployment allowance was no solution. Opportunities would be created for employment.

Mr Hooda said the Council of Ministers would for formed soon after consulting the party high command.

Cases registered against farmers by the previous government would be examined. The criminals operating in Haryana should either join the mainstream voluntarily or be ready to face stern action. The charge sheet submitted against the Chautala government by the Congress to the Governor would be examined after the formation of the Council of Ministers and action would be taken against the guilty.
