Indo-Pak talks on Baglihar break down
New Delhi, January 7
The Indo-Pak talks on the Baglihar hydel power project on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir collapsed today and Pakistan made it clear that it would go for international arbitration and appointment of neutral experts for resolving the dispute.

Govt proposes to bring judges under Lok Pal
New Delhi, January 7
The UPA government today proposed to bring the judiciary, the executive and the legislature under the purview of Lok Pal. A Group of Ministers has been set up under the leadership of Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee to examine the Lok Pal Bill.

Dual citizenship for all overseas Indians

Jaya seeks funds for wall along coastline
Chennai, January 7
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said here today that the tsunami disaster should be converted into an opportunity to rebuild the coastal economies in the affected areas.

SC reserves verdict on seer’s bail plea
New Delhi, January 7
The Supreme Court today reserved its judgement on the bail petition of Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati in the Shankararaman murder case, while the seer made a strong plea for his release from the jail on the condition that he would not go to the Kanchi Mutt till the police completed the investigation and filed the chargesheet.

Capt trying to communalise education: NCM
New Delhi, January 7
The Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM),  Mr Tarlochan Singh, has taken exception to the Capt Amarinder Singh government in Punjab trying to communalise the education system in the state and undermine the high office of the Vice-President of India. Mr Tarlochan Singh told The Tribune that Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat as the Chancellor of Panjab University had acted in a transparent manner.
