100 aftershocks in Andamans
Over 9,000 dead in Katchal alone
THE number of aftershocks in the region of the Andaman and Nicobar islands following the megaquake of December 26 has staggeringly crossed the triple-figure mark today, notwithstanding the claims made by local officials and indeed the Science and Technology Ministry that the aftershocks were abating.

The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan
Singh, has asked all Chief Ministers to personally supervise and monitor the fund collection for tsunami-disaster victims and its utilisation .
EC notices to INLD, Abhey Chautala

The Election Commission today issued show-cause notices to the Indian National Lok Dal and party leader Abhey Chautala for violating the Model Code of Conduct and threatened to derecognise the party for violating the code.
