Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Himachal Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Punjab. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are: Himachal Pradesh: Patsio 1 and Jammu and Kashmir: Pahalgam and Quazigund 3 each, Batote and Banihal 2 each and Srinagar 1.

Departures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell in east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were appreciably above normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, above normal in Jammu and Kashmir and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 2.4C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 5: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at a few places in Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.
