Port Blair, January 3
Many Port Blair residents have been trooping to their local clinics complaining of a mysterious dizziness and nausea.

Said a leading businessman here, Mr Bhaskar of TSG group: “I got this spell of dizziness and vomiting and went to the doctor, who prescribed some medicines. Many people are complaining of the same thing. There are so many tremors. I think the whole island is floating — maybe we’ll just float away to Australia,” he laughs.

Dr Shyamala, who runs a popular clinic, says she gets at least 20 people a day complaining of the same thing. “It is the tremors, no doubt about it.”

DG of Health Services from the Health Ministry, Dr S.P. Agarwal, however, stated that nobody in the relief camps here in Port Blair had complained of these symptoms.
