Chandigarh, December 10
A woman in her mid-30s was murdered in Hotel Shivalikview here this evening.

“The body of the woman was found in the bath tub of room No. 402 of the hotel,” DSP (Central) S.C. Sagar said. A trouser, a bra and a black coat were found in a cupboard of the room. The woman is yet to be identified.

The woman is suspected to have been drowned in the tub. The police does not rule out sex as a motive behind the murder.

The police is looking for a man who identified himself as Bunty from Baldev Nagar, Ambala, and booked the room in his name for two. Bunty had left his mobile phone number with the front office which is not accessible.

The murder was detected when an occupant of room No. 302 complained of water leakage. A room attendant, Laxman, told the police that he called a plumber who found that the water was coming from room No 402. But the room was locked. The attendant opened the room with a master key. The TV was on and the tap was running. The attendant and the plumber found the body in the tub.

According to hotel staff, the person had checked in the hotel at 6.20 p.m. and the police learnt about the murder at 9 p.m. Bunty had paid Rs 5,500 to the hotel.

The attendant said he entered the room at around 8.50 p.m.

The police found out that there was no entry from outside.

A half-drunk cup of tea was found from the room, but it seemed to have been made on an electric kettle in the room itself.

The police has found a pair of sun glasses and high-heel sandles.

The police is looking for a short and stout person in his 20s. He was wearing a cap at the time of checking in.

The murder took place when there was a big crowd of auctioneers in the hotel.
