Way cleared for Monica’s extradition

New Delhi, December 3
The Supreme Court of Portugal has turned down the plea of Monica Bedi, girlfriend of underworld don Abu Salem, to quash a lower court’s order to extradite her.

A CBI spokesman here said the move had paved way for her extradition to India, where she is wanted in connection with Salem’s role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Bedi was arrested in Lisbon, along with Abu Salem, for entering the country on forged documents and had appealed against extradition proceedings, saying she would face discrimination due to her association with the blast accused. — UNI
