2 students held for threat letter to Kalam

Pondicherry, November 7
The arrest of two engineering college students helped police unravel the mystery behind an anonymous letter threatening to harm President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam during his visit to the Union Territory on November 1.

The life threat letter to Dr Kalam was found in front of the SP’s residence on November 1, the day the President was to address a special session of the Assembly.

The police force was alerted and the roads leading to the venue and the Legislative Assembly were sealed.

This morning, the duo was arrested at Saram here and produced before a Magistrate. Cases under Sections 506 (threat to life) and 507 of the IPC (writing anonymous letters) were booked against them.

Mr Garg also said a wide area network, to connect all police stations in Pondicherry, would be commissioned soon at Rs 36 lakh. — UNI
