Rain, snow in region bring temperatures down

Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather remained dry in the rest of the region.

The chief amounts of precipitation in cm. are: 

Haryana: Chandigarh 13, Ambala and Uchana 9 each, Kalka 8, Naraingarh 6, Panchkula 3 and Narwana and Thanesar 1 each,

Himachal Pradesh: Kahu 10, Dhundhi 9, Bhuntar and Bhanjar 8 each, Bhang, Baggi, Kasol, Pandoh and Shimla 7 each, Sunibhaji 6, Berthin, Barsar, Bhoranj, Rampur Bushahar and Sundernagar 5 each, Hamirpur and Kasauli 4 each, Solangnala 3, Dehragopipur, Guler, Kangra, Nadaun and Sujanpurtira 2 each and Kotkhai and Nurpur 1 each,

Punjab: Nangal 11, Balachaur 6, Ludhiana 5, Nawanshahar 3, Patiala 2 and Samrala 1, East Uttar Pradesh: Bahraich 3 and Lucknow A.P. 1; West Uttar Pradesh: Bareilly 3; and Uttaranchal: Pantnagar 2 and Dehra Dun, Mukteshwar and Tehri 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell markedly in Uttar Pradesh, fell appreciably in Punjab and Uttaranchal, fell in west Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were largely below normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and west Uttar Pradesh, markedly below normal in Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan and Uttaranchal, appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh and below normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 33.7°C recorded at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh).

Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, fell in Haryana, east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were markedly below normal in Himachal Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 12.9°C recorded at Udaipur City (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of October 14: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana and Punjab, at a few places in Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain/snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood: Generally cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain/thundershowers in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 30°C and 20°C, respectively.

Farmers’ weather bulletin for Delhi: Light rain is likely at a few places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
