New Delhi, October 9
Disappointed with the negative attitude of state BJP leaders, Haryana Vikas Party chief Bansi Lal has made up his mind to go back to the Congress.

According to reliable sources, Mr Bansi Lal who did not accept the proposal of merging the HVP in the BJP has given his consent to merge it in the Congress.

Mr Surender Singh, son of Mr Bansi Lal and secretary-general of the HVP, who was trying hard to forge an alliance with the BJP for the coming Assembly elections, also feels that the Congress will be a better alternative.

It is a known fact that Mr Surender Singh met almost every senior BJP leader, including the former Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mr L.K. Advani and the party President, Mr Venkaiah Naidu to convince them that a BJP-HVP alliance can be a force in the coming Assembly elections.

Though these national leaders were not negative in their reaction, the state BJP leaders not only started attacking Mr Bansi Lal and Mr Surender Singh, but also accepting HVP leaders into its fold.

Highly upset over this attitude, Mr Surender Singh thought of the Congress as an alternative. Despite vocal opposition from PCC chief Bhajan Lal and some Jat leaders, the Congress high command has given its clearance for merging the HVP in the Congress.

According to the sources, Mr Bansi Lal is not involved in the merger talks at this level. Interestingly, his daughter-in-law, Ms Kiran Chaudhary, who is herself a prominent leader of the Congress in Delhi, has been pushing forward the merger talks.
