New Delhi, October 7
Amidst heavy rainfall, a record low turnout of 65 per cent of the six and a half lakh electorate exercised their franchise for Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, which was by and large peaceful.
Deputy Election Commissioner D.N. Jha told reporters that repolling had been ordered in seven polling stations, which will be held on October 9.
He said due to heavy rainfalls and landslides in the past few days, polling parties could not reach four polling stations.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has directed the deployment of nearly 15,000 state police and paramilitary force personnel in Maharashtra to ensure free and fair poll in the state.
