The Indian Air Force (IAF) today got its new Vice-Chief of Air Staff and the first woman Air Marshal with Air Marshal S.K. Malik taking over as the second-in- command and Air Marshal Padmavathy Bandhopadhaya taking over as Director General, Medical Services (Air).
Air Marshal Malik, earlier Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the IAF’s Southern Air Command (SAC), succeeded Air Marshal Michael McMahon, who had retired.
Air Marshal Malik, who had taken over the command of the SAC in January this year, was earlier Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of the Gandhinagar-based South-Western Air Command.
