Mulk Raj Anand cremated

Khandala (Maharashtra), September 30
The mortal remains of celebrated writer Mulk Raj Anand, who died on Tuesday, were consigned to flames with full state honours here today.

His 94-year-old wife Shirin Vajifdar, a large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral. Pune District Collector Prabhakar Deshkmukh, Shailesh Bijor from the Protocol, film maker Syed Mirza and representatives from Maharashtra Sahitya Sadan also attended the funeral.

Ninetynine-year-old Mulk Raj Anand died on Tuesday morning of pneumonia and old-age related ailments. — UNI
