SC notice to Centre on flag code

New Delhi, September 17
The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Centre on a petition seeking formulation of a comprehensive national Flag Code for stopping the use and abuse of the Tricolour for personal and political gains.

The matter was entertained by a Bench comprising Mr Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Mr Justice S. B. Sinha after ensuring that the petitioner, Seema Nayar, had deleted references to BJP leader Uma Bharti.

The Bench, on Monday, had taken serious exception to the petition singling out alleged ‘dishonour” of the Tricolour during Ms Bharti’s “tiranga yatra” and had said it was strange none took note of its dishonour by a model and cricket fans. — PTI
