SC for proper flag code to honour Tricolour
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, September 13
The Supreme Court today took exception to a petition singling out alleged dishonour of the Tricolour during Uma Bharti’s Tiranga Yatra and said it was strange that none took note of the Tricolour’s handling by cricket fans.

Directing the petitioner to amend the petition, a Bench comprising Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Justice S.B. Sinha said entertaining a petition containing allegations against a particular politician would have a cascading effect.

Favouring framing of a proper National Flag code, it said notices would be issued to all political parties.

Without naming former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, who has embarked on a Tiranga Yatra from Hubli to Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, the Bench observed that from the public interest litigation (PIL) filed it appeared that all ire was against a particular politician.
