Simply fashion
|
More than style and form, it is unwearable clothes
inspired by designers’ whims and mindless exposure of the human body
that rules the world of fashion. Hype built around fashion events leave
most people wondering about the relevance of ramp fashions to everyday
life. Are any of these clothes really wearable, asks former Editor of Femina
Vimla Patil.
NOT so
long ago, high society in India sincerely believed that only the top
divas of A-list partygoers in metros wore revealing clothes. For
instance, Parmeshwar Godrej attained an iconic status for her revealing
outfits, especially after satellite TV channels tracked her leaping
necklines and formidable cleavage during the Miss World contest held in
Bangalore in 1996. Her sartorial style branded her as the queen of
cleavages. Since that year, the Indian fashion scene has changed
dramatically.

Hemis festival: Legacy of Ladakh’s past

Gompa is known as the Chang-Chub-Sam-Ling, the solitary place of the
Compassionate One. His Holiness, the Twelfth Gyalwang Drukchen Rinpoche,
Supreme Spiritual head of the Drupka Kargyud lineage and head of the
Hemis Monastery in Ladakh has graciously consented to grant a public
audience of the Six Ornaments of Naropa.
Cloned
babies by next year
TWO
Chinese Singaporean couples are trying for cloned babies to be born
late next year, a newspaper reported today. Thomas Kaenzig, the
Swiss-born Vice-President of the controversial company clonaid, told
the daily tabloid streats the agreements have been signed with both
couples.'' We have scheduled the process to begin in early 2005,''
Kaenzig was quoted as saying.

greatest-ever movie role. Actor Anupam Kher has a large portrait of
Marlon Brando as Don Corleone in his office. "Brando is my
all-time hero," he told me. "And Don Corleone was the
pinnacle of his career."
