The Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning
Officer, Mr M. R. Anand, has ordered disciplinary action against 65 officials
and employees of various government offices, schools and other institutions who
had failed to turn up in the election rehearsal held on May 8.
Both English and
country liquor flowed freely in Noida
Noida, May 10
It is openly acknowledged that there was no
scarcity of liquor in the area though liquor vends remained closed for three
days as per the Election Commission’s directions. Some of the political
activists admitted that the flow of liquor could decide the trend of voting, and
thus the outcome of the election.

of TV star and BJP’s Chandni Chowk candidate Smriti Irani that some political
workers misbehaved with her inside a polling station in Pratapura and then at
Bazar Sitaram.

The Delhi Police today heaved a sigh of
relief and patted on its back as the polling to the seven Lok Sabha
constituencies in the national Capital passed off peacefully except for some
minor incidents.

Despite the Supreme Court order for
providing special facilities to enable the disabled cast their ballot without

two more central observers for keeping a strict vigil during the counting of

11 injured in

At least 11 persons, including three women,
were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Baroda village about 45 km
from here last evening.

Low turnout for voting in Ghaziabad and
Noida was witnessed today. Mr Umesh Srivastave, SP Cit, Ghaziabad, said that
polling passed off peacefully except an incidence of stone throwing in Bet
Hajipur village, in which a police inspector was injured.

guidelines, only 20 per cent of the licensed arms in Noida were deposited with
the police. This precautionary step was taken to check misuse of arms during
