Paramilitary forces for polls in Capital

The entire Delhi Police force along with the central paramilitary forces will be deployed in full strength to avoid any untoward incident during the General Elections on Monday in the national Capital.

DM passes prohibitory orders in Sonepat
Sonepat, May 8
The District Magistrate of Sonepat, Mr M. R. Anand has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 CR.P.C. banning the assembly of five or more persons and carrying of firearms like swords, lathis, kulhars, jelleyes and knives within two hundred meters of the polling stations set up for Lok Sabha elections in the district.

Time out for voters on election eve after fortnight-long din

Campaigning for Monday’s Lok Sabha election in all seven parliamentary constituencies and one Assembly seat of the NCT of Delhi ended this evening. The electioneering, which began a fortnight ago, reached a feverish pitch only a week ago.

No DTC passes for students for the time being
New Delhi, May 8
The Supreme Court has struck down the 1999 notification of Delhi Government, providing for concessional passes to students and certain other categories of passengers in public transport buses in the Capital and modified the guidelines in this regard.

Heroin, pistols & knives seized from two at bus stand
New Delhi, May 8
The Delhi Police Narcotics Branch claimed to have arrested two persons and recovered 2.65 kg of heroin, 10 countrymade pistols, 36 knives, two daggers and 40 live cartridges from their possession at a bus stand near the Akshar Dham Setu on Noida road. The seized value of the heroin is Rs 26 lakh in the international market.

Four arrested for giving drug-laced tea
New Delhi, May 8
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police today arrested four men for giving drug-laced tea and eatables to their victims. The suspects were identified as Vinod, alias Raju, Vjay Kumar, Deepak and Vijay, alias Bhagwati.

Sonepat: The Sadar police recovered the body of Bhim Singh (30) from the fields at Fazilpur village, about 3 km from here, last evening.
