NDA may get close to majority: exit polls

New Delhi, May 5
Exit poll results today projected that the NDA is likely to return to power with a final figure close to the simple majority mark of 272 in the House of 543.

Today’s projections is contrary to the apprehensions of a hung Parliament which was projected after the second phase of polling.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appears to have recovered considerable ground in the third phase of elections, especially in the Hindi heartland of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar.

Polling for 83 seats was held in the penultimate round of elections today.

Star News projected that the NDA’s final tally would be in the range of 270-282. Aaj Tak projected that NDA would obtain 268 seats, while Sahara Samay projected it would get 263 seats.

Zee News projected that NDA is likely to get 267 seats, while Congress and its allies is likely to get 187 seats.

The final tally of the Congress-led alliance, on the other hand, is likely be in the range of 167-179 seats according to the Star News projections. Aaj Tak predicted that the Congress and its allies, would get 175 seats and Sahara Samay projected 183 seats for the combine.

Others are expected to get 87-99 seats (Star), 100 (Aaj Tak),97 (Sahara) and 89 ( Zee News).

According to Aaj Tak, of the 361 seats for which polling has already been held so far, the NDA would get 193 and the Congress and its allies 116.
